I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these difficult and unusual times.
As you know this week for Divisions 5 and 6 and next week for Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4 would, in normal circumstances, be the start of the Chester & District Midweek League Cricket season. Sadly, the current circumstances are not normal and this is not the case.
I advised you in my email dated 21st March that in conjunction with the ECB guidelines, the Chester & District Midweek Cricket League’s 2020 season is currently suspended. This is still the case. The ECB advice was last updated on 23rd April and states that “the recreational game remains suspended until further notice”.
I will keep you updated as the situation changes; hopefully there will be enough time, if the lockdown is eased, to play a shorter season, but these are obviously circumstances that we will have to deal with if and when they develop.
I attach an electronic copy of the League’s handbook and would be grateful if you could please check your club’s details and email me direct with any amendments. Please do not “reply to all” and clutter people’s inboxes; I will collate any changes and email them to you. Obviously, the fixtures may need revising, at short notice, if we are given permission for our season to start.
All of the League’s Officers send their best wishes and hope that you all keep safe and well.
